Announcement: Agreement to Process
Province's Used Tires

RRFB Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that a contractual agreement has been reached to implement a made in Nova Scotia solution for the province's used tires. Under this agreement, Halifax C&D Recycling Ltd, will process and market used tires as Tire Derived Aggregate (TDA).

2009 Nova Scotia Recycles Contest Launched

RRFB Nova Scotia has kicked off the 10th annual Nova Scotia Recycles Contest. Open to students in grades Primary to 12, the contest challenges them to become a "Waste Warrior" and help Nova Scotia reach the provincial goal of reducing our solid waste from 450 KG to 300 KG/person/year by 2015. Last year we receive more than 11,600 entries from 236 schools!

Become a "Waste Warrior" and you could win!

  • More than $55,000 in cash, prizes and scholarships
  • Schools of winning students win $500 (excluding research essay)
  • $20,000 in scholarships from grade 12 students

Celebrate Waste Reduction Week, Oct. 19-25

Waste Reduction Week, October 19-25, is the time to challenge yourself to reduce your waste. Nova Scotia Environment has set a provincial goal of reducing our solid waste disposal rate from 450 KG to 300 KG/person/year by 2015 and RRFB Nova Scotia is here to help!

Bring your refundable beverage containers or left-over paint to an ENVIRO-DEPOT™ between October 19-25 and enter a ballot to WIN A WEEKEND AT WHITEPOINT BEACH RESORT or 1 OF 7 MOUNTAIN BIKES. There are also other great prize packs to be won.
