Derelict Vehicle Recovery Program

What is a Derelict Vehicle?

A derelict vehicle is one that is no longer operational due to accident or age.

Why are Derelict Vehicles a Problem?

Derelict vehicles are unsightly and compromise the natural beauty of our communities and our province. Most derelict vehicles contain hazardous materials that are harmful to our environment.

What is the Derelict Vehicle Program?

The program is an information service, operated through a provincial hotline, that provides options for individuals looking for ways of recycling derelict vehicles.

What are the Program Benefits?

The Derelict Vehicle Program eliminates environmental problems and presents economic opportunities. Used parts equal cost and energy savings.

What Happens Next?

When your car is taken to an automobile recycler, everything possible is either reused or recycled following strict environmental standards.

How Do I Find Out More?
