2009-2010 Nova Scotia Recycles Contest Winners

Thanks to all the teachers and students who submitted the many fantastic entries we received for the 2009-2010 Nova Scotia Recycles Contest. Our judging committee reviewed nearly 9,300 entries from 227 schools!

Winning students were honoured at regional awards celebrations in April. Students receiveed a variety of prizes, including backpacks, movie passes and a selection of promotional items made from recycled materials. As well, the schools of winning and runner-up students received cash prizes of $500 and $250 respectively. That's a total of more than $30,000 for schools across the province!

Grade 12 students were recognized with scholarships - $1,500 for regional winners and $750 for runners-up. In addition, RRFB Nova Scotia gave a $5,000 grand prize scholarship to Isaac Freisa of Oxford Regional Education Centre for his essay titled "FACE: the Formula to a Successful Idea".
